“ I got my perfect American high school experience. ”

At first, I was a little apprehensive about leaving my family and friends to study abroad for a year, but I am so glad that I did. Learning to adapt to a new culture was difficult, but I got my perfect American high school experience. My teachers were more than willing to assist me if I had problems in class and the new friends I made through school helped me greatly in adjusting to a new lifestyle.

During the first semester, I took an art class and fell in love with design. My school counselors worked with me closely to help me get accepted to the University of Cincinnati, one of the top design programs in the United States. My American Year was unforgettable and I would really encourage my Turkish friends to look into studying abroad!

You will build bonds between your friends and host family that will last a lifetime. You will remain in contact with them long after your year abroad, and in many cases students do return to visit. Your memories will always be connected across continents! Welcome to My American Year!
